Customers say's :
Works well
It was installed during our kitchen remodel about two months ago.
It works well. No one in my family has ever complained about not having hot water!!!
Also, I just tested it by turning on two showers, three bathroom faucets, and one kitchen faucet. Water remained plenty hot.
If you plan to buy a tankless water heater, consider hiring a plumber who specializes in installation of these things. It's not as simple as the tank one. It requires a correct choice of gas pipe diameter vs. length of the run and proper venting (if condensing type). Our regular plumber first installed an undersized pipe and then did not know that you need to open the vent, which makes the unit quit in a few minutes. I had to help him figure it out. And if we didn't catch the undersized gas pipe (by accident) I would've been writing this review complaining about the unit not operating as advertized: it can't if it doesn't get enough gas flow. Again, the unit is great, but in retrospect I...

Terrible customer service
Contractor installed 4 weeks ago and doesn't work right. Rinnai response is to have installer work with their Tech over the phone at contractors expense!. They will sell to any contractor/plumber but do not have this installed except by an authorized Rinnai representative. Do not believe advertised unit capacity (shower heads). You need to calculate water and gas flows to make sure it will provide sufficient hot water (and it won't for my needs despite the advertising saying it will). Rinnai 800 customer service is terrible (representative laughed at me. I have no hot water and she is laughing at me on the phone).
Never would have purchased a Rinnai if I knew what I know now.

WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!
i joined amazon prime and had it shipped next day air for $3.99. it arrived in perfect condition. had my plumber install it and I can honestly say that a tankless water heater is the best thing ever for your home. no more worring about running out of hot water.

Tired of having to wait to get hot water at your sink?  With Mini-Tank technology, you get hot water right at the tap when you need it! WaiWela Mini Tanks combine quality materials and efficient manufacturing techniques to produce an affordable solution to an everyday problem. Millions of gallons of fresh water are wasted everyday waiting for the hot water to arrive. Install a WaiWela Mini tank under your sinks to eliminate the wait and reduce the waste of fresh water.  Mini Tanks are tank type water heaters and will run out if used constantly. Point-of-use sink work, like hand washing, is the most common application because of the low demand and inconsistent use. Mini tanks run on 110 Volts, 12 Amps and simply plug into a standard receptacle using the attached power cord.  Mini Tanks are produced and tested to UL174 standards for electric storage tank type water heaters. They offer the highest grade glass enamel coating to the tank vessel. The heating element is made of stainless ...

Perfect for under sink mounting.
We have a tankless water heater for the house, and it takes a lot of water to reach one of the sinks. We purchased this to fit underneath the sink to help save water, it heats the water quickly and was easy to install. Just remember to plumb the pressure & temperature relief valve into your drain using a dishwasher tailpiece.

Nice instant hot water!
It works as advertised. I use it in my kitchen sink because I like instant hot water to wash my hands, clean off a knife etc. I like that it is 110V so it doesn't need any special wiring. I plumbed my main hot water line into the cold water intake of this unit, then the output from this unit goes to the faucet. If you turn the temp all the way up on this unit the water temp is around 145 degrees, I have it set at 125 degrees. My only complaint is that the power cord is only about a foot and a half long, so be aware that you may need to do some electrical work if you don't have an outlet in the right spot.

Rinnai RL75e tankless water heater
My experience with Rinnai Tankless Water Heaters goes back a few years so this is not my first impression of the technical side of the brand. Although I have serviced many of the various models Rinnai makes, something that should be done annually by the way, this is the first in my own home. My wife and I chose to go this route for efficiency sake and plan to keep the setting at factory defaults to maintain the exceptional 12 year warranty. Ours is a retrofit install which got complicated but new installed are best done by those with SERVICE in mind. Access is important along with good water and gas flow. Thankless water heaters are a bit different in operation than tank versions as they take a short time to get to the set temperature but that is only a few seconds. No more keeping 30 or40 gallons of water hot while you aren't home all day or gone for a weekend. All the best to you and yours!!

Things to consider
The Rinnai water heater works well and saves energy but there are some issues that are specific to these water heaters and I am going to tell you the whole truth.

Venting: The exhaust/combustion air vent is tested and listed for the unit and you can't use any other vent. It uses outside air for combustion and is very safe. The direct vent sealed combustion vent allows Rinnai to be installed in bath rooms and bed rooms where traditional B-Vent water heaters cannot. There are limitations of how far away and were you can terminate the vent, check out the installation manual for that.

Hot Water: It will make endless hot water until you turn off the tap, a minute, an hour, a week. It can only supply so much at a time, depending on your cold water temperature it will only run two or three fixtures at once. It is an `on demand' water heater, not an `instant' water heater, hot water will take longer to arrive at the fixture than it will from a tank water...

No Support
Unless you are a licensed contractor purchasing this unit for installation, DO NOT BUY IT ONLINE. Rinnai will not support you, basically saying they will only work on problems with a licensed contractor. Even if you purchased it online and had a licensed contractor install it, once the contractor is done and gone, you will not be able to get support from Rinnai. My unit has a defective leaking cold water isolation valve, not part of the unit itself, but a part shipped with the unit.

No complaints and I would recommend
We have had ours now for about 36 months and it works extremely well. There can be a delay in hot water, or a cold water "sandwich" if you change temperature quickly or turn off and then on after having it on for 15 seconds or more. It probably takes 30 seconds for ours to really heat up, and maybe 40 to get hot in the dead of winter...this is slower than a tank heater and the only detriment I can note or am aware of at this point. Puts out plenty of HOT water for us as we can have 2 showers and laundry going in the dead of winter...it is no problem. We adjusted our tank to put out 140 degree water and we love it...especially in the winter. My wife used to fill our tub, and the old water heater would actually run out of hot water.....never a problem again! I think beyond 3 uses at one time(shower, laundry, dishwash, etc) running you would have a capacity problem...but how often do you do that? There are two of us here most of the time with the occasional guests....2 1/2 bath, and...

Please disregard reviews by Scott A Miller from Swartz Creek, MI regarding Noritz products.
He had a bad experience with a particular water heater circuit board, so he went through and gave 1-star bad reviews to many Noritz water heaters at Amazon, even ones he didn’t buy.
Personal vendettas like this are extremely unhelpful to potential buyers.
I have no personal stock in Noritz, but I have had very good, satisfying experiences with Noritz. Noritz even sent me a new tank and internal piping because mine froze and burst in the winter, even though the water heater was out of warranty and the freeze was not their fault!

Great unit - great price
We've got three of this model at various locations and so far they are working great and saving us money! Unfortunately though, my girlfriend can take showers that now seem eternal, losing a little there. But a real decent unit for the money, just be sure to use the specified pressure relief for safety.

Pleased
This water heater is nice, we have had it installed now for 3 weeks and it works great! The only reason I didnt give it a 5 star was the box it came in was flimsy and lacked in my opinion the proper packing, so you guessed it, it got damaged in the trip! The front cover was slightly bent, just a cosmetic issue but still a little agravating.

Great Water Heater
This product was easy to mount and gives the instant hot water I was looking for. Highly recommend this unit.

broken again
we rent the quietside tankless and this is the third time something has broken in 2 years and water pours all over. New technology would be nice if it worked. How about the old things that seemed to last forever. High tech seems to equal high repairs in this case.

Quietside water heater
The unit was easy to install and works well. It does take a little getting used to since as the water flow rate is changed so is the temperature. You don't want to make rapid changes while in the shower, although last week my son was taking a shower and I was washing disshes and he had no problems. I like most that it will save a lot of money with natural gas prices so low.

Hot water made simple
Wow, this is an impressive product. Tankless water heating has come a long way. Right out of the box this appliance is easy to install, has easy to understand controls. The key to success with the product is to pay close attention to sizing the gas supply piping correctly, installing the factory recommended venting, and calculating hot water flow demand and staying within the supply capability of the heater. In addition to water flow, install a water filter on the water supply if there is indication of debris. Hard water should be addressed before sending it to the unit.If you follow the install manual to the letter, you should be very satisfied with the product.

Works Great
It does the Job! Well built and designed. I have two bathrooms and it is able to supply all the hot water we need no problems in running several items at once that use hot water. I had it installed and it was easy according to the local plumbing company, looks good on the wall too...

Excellent product.
I installed this myself with some tools and knowledge borrowed from a master gas fitter. It was a very simple installation. I didn't run a return line, I don't live in Denver (anymore). the exhaust pipe I ran was under three feet. I can see why Rinnai wants only trained professionals installing; it could get very complicated. but I kept it simple.
runs very quiet and produces plenty of hot water. I'm not sure of the savings over the old power vented unit. My friend the gas fitter was dubious about savings, but I'm confident it will save a few hundred dollars a year, that old heater was costing me about 100 dollars a month in the winter.
I have quite short runs of pipe to my shower, kitchen sink, but the wait for hot water is noticeably longer, but re circulation lines would reduce the efficiency, so I'll live with it. Once the hot water starts flowing it's great
I had to run new pipes 3/4in steel because of the high BTUs. Mounting it was a bit awkward, but not...

Marey 16L natural gas tankless water heater
The most important thing to remember about this heater is that the gas (heat)adjustment is manual. It is about half the price of models from other manufacturers who automatically adjust the heat. Therefore, the temp is lower on higher flows and much higher on low flows (like from a bathroom sink). I was able to get a reasonable middle setting, but one should be cautious. Also, I encountered a situation where the temp was too high for my shower so I mixed in cold and then the heater turned off due to low demand for hot! Otherwise, it worked perfectly when first hooked up, and so far operates very reliably.

Great - once you get it working
We had a hard time installing (even with professional help).
There was a problem with the ignitor not seating properly.
The manual is a joke.
Lots of settings on the front panel, and no explanation...
Once we got it all figured out, though, it was really great.
Plenty of piping hot water, without end!

Be prepared
Customer service is horrible. I have this heater mounted and ready to go but can't run it. Why? They state you can buy the 5" vent from any home improvement center which is false. They forwarded my issue to a company that sells their heaters and they quoted me $1300.00 for 8' of vent pipe, condensate T and vent kit. A simple/standard through roof system. So beware. If your replacing and have a vent in place your better off. If not go, with a reputable company.

Do not purchace this product.
I have to eat this one because Crogan will not accept a return, which by the way, I could not find anywhere in writing. For that reason alone I would not purchase any product from this supplier. I had very realistic expectations for this little heater. All I wanted was warm water to wash my hands and face in a small sink. Even with the low flow aerator this product was unacceptable and I immediately removed it. Please note that the owner of Crogan has put in a review--which is not true.

I wanted a mini water heater in my remodeled bathroom. After having it professionally installed, the plumber told me that he thinks the until is working, but....there is no hot water coming out of the faucet. I called the company and told them the unit clicks on but no hot water.

They told me i must use the .65 per minute water flow limiter that comes with the unit. I didn't see one when i opened the box, so i went around looking in three different places for a water limiter of .65.

Most people laughed when I told them what i wanted, saying that amount would barely wash your hands at that low of a flow rate and mixing it with cold water might make it feel instantly cool.

It seems that this unit is a waste of money. Perhaps a mini water tank would be a better purchase.

Stiebel Eltron Mini tankless heaters are not designed for use with typical faucet
These heaters are only designed to heat water if it is flowing at .5 gallons per minute, which is a trickle. A typical faucet is 1.5-2.2 gallons per minute. So if you want to use this at a sink to wash your hands, it will not work.

This will only work with the little tiny hot water taps.

However, it is marketed as if it will work with regular faucets, so I give it one star, and would give it negative stars if possible for this deception.

Takagi TK-04-OS
This tankless heater came recommended to me by three other contractors I know.

They did not dissappoint me. the unit ,once installed is flawless and workd perfectly.

I have nothing bad to say of this unit at all !!

I will say that it would probably be best if this unit is installed by a professional.

First it doesn't void your warranty and second it is not just a plug and play item.

Once installed you will love it.

Great product and service
I do not write many reviews but felt the need to praise this product and company. The 1st thing to understand is this technology is relatively new as opposed to a conventional tank water heater. With that said here is my experience. I had this models predecessor installed in 2008 a t-k3 along with the appropriate filters in front of it to protect it from hard water deposits a MUST ! Unit worked flawlessly for 5 years, I had the annual service performed, descalling and cleaning the heater core and filters . I began to have some trouble with the unit then not turning on once in a while, I called the Takagi help desk and they sent me the needed parts igniter and technical instructions at no charge. I performed the service replaced the gaskets and the unit worked well until 2014 before acting up again. When I pulled the cover I noticed that there was corrosion occurring as a result of tiny water leaks, I called the Takagi help desk and they totally supported the now 7-8 year old...

re modelers dream
top quality workmanship, instruction book was the best i have seen. get the suggested cabinet for it for outside install.

Connectors not Included, heater works well
We just received our tankless water heater and, upon opening the box, did NOT find the flexible connectors described in the Product Description. This is what the Product Description says: "(2) Flexible Water Heater Connectors are included FREE with every Stiebel Eltron Tempra model." No other seller of this product (including the Stiebel Eltron website) mentions those flexible connectors so we believe this description is incorrect. We haven't connected it yet to see if it works BECAUSE we did not get the flexible connectors and so we'll have to purchase them separately. This is definitely disappointing.

Update: After three months, the water heater is working great. It turns on with as little as 1/2 gpm water flow rate, which is much better than a previous brand we owned. When we draw hot water for the washing machine (which is right beside the water heater), the indicator light blinks, showing that the flow rate is being exceeded (and, thus, heating is intermittent)...

Tempra 12B
Tempra 12B works fine for a small application. It takes 30 seconds to deliver hot water but it works well for showering. I would not want anything any smaller in power.

So far, exceeded expectations
I installed the water heater about a month ago, so far it works like a charm. I leave in Florida in a one bedroom 1 bath codo. Take long showers with no problem at all. For my taste I have the temperature set at 100 F, that is more than enough for me in south Florida. I will write back when I get my full month electrical bill with the new unit installed. Well recommended for a one bedroom apartment.

Customers say's :
Very effective and efficient heater; buffer tank could use some work
I have an NPE-240A for almost a month now. It was installed by a licensed plumber. The unit was connected to pre-existing 3/4" natural gas. The PVC for exhausting gasses was routed through the old water heater vent. The condensate line was connected using insulated PEX and terminated within a sloped PVC pipe that routes the condensate to the exterior of the house where it drains / evaporates on our rear porch. Note that the condensate is slightly acidic as isn't just water; it is carbonic acid with a PH of ~2-4. This is due to the gasses, including CO, being cooled in the secondary heat exchanger enough for water to condensate out while incorporating the CO. Thus be mindful of where the acidic condensate drains.

The NPE-240A is unique in that it incorporates a 0.5 gallon buffer tank. The buffer tank is meant to help prevent cold water sandwiches, and if recirculation is always on, allow < 0.5 GPM flow rates for hot water. However, if recirculation is not enabled,...

I am impressed!
I replaced a rusted out 50 gallon gas hot water heater with the Navien NPE 240A tankless hot water heater. I had it installed by a licensed plumbing contractor - I can't see the average homeowner doing this themselves. (in fact, I was a licensed plumber for many years but still was more comfortable having someone else do it as he had the proper tools and I'm not as young as I used to be).

Installation was not difficult - for my plumber - in fact the 1/2" gas connection and 2" PVC vent piping made for simple work. Many tankless need a 3/4" gas line and 3" pipe. That extra inch of vent pipe is a HUGE deal. There is a fair amount of piping required on the water end - get the installation valve kit. It will help in servicing the unit later on.

The Navien also has a recirculating pump built in, which can work internally as well as run an external recirculating line, should you have one in the house. Coupled with a small tank in the unit, there is less fluctuation...

Caution for warranty
I love my Navien water heater! Delivers endless hot water, as promised.. BE AWARE that if you purchase your Navien water heater online, you are not buying ANY factory warrranty, regardless of what the papers inside the box say or what the website you are buying from says. The fine print states that the unit MUST be purchased from a plumber through wholesale distribution to receive the excellent warranty offered by Navien. Keep this in mind when purchacing!!!

well that was useless...
I bought this thinking it would work for a sink or small shower w/ water saver head on it. Wrong! it won't put out "hot" or even Warm unless the faucet is almost off at .5 gpm(.4 is the min reqd to activate the unit).... What the heck is .5 gpm useful for? I bought it because it is listed as 2.5 gpm. don't go off that. the factory rep told me these are intended for folks in warmer states with warm ground water. But if the water is that warm comeing out of the ground I don't think I would need a HEATER:)
7KW - 240v is alot i can't figure out why it can't keep up with even 1-2 gpm!?! the unit is flawless in it self other than not heating enuf.

Waste of money
This supposedly works for a sink. We remodeled our house, and instead of running hot water to the kitchen, we decided to add a tankless water heater for the sink. Note that we live in South Texas. When the water heater was installed, it was 30' outside. When I tried to use it, I had no hot water. We thought it wasn't working, so we waited for the electrician. That day, it was 60' outside, and we had hot water for approximately 1 second after turning on the faucet. We contacted Rheem, and their response was, we lived in a "too cold" climate! If South Texas is too cold for this thing, I guess only people living at the equator can get hot water out of it! We have another Rheem tankless water heater, but it is gas. It works fine. Just don't waste your money on the electric ones unless you live in an extremely warm climate.

I know why they are called Rheem!
I purchased and installed this water heater in August 2010 in my shop. It worked OK - heated the water OK as long as you didn't run it too fast. I walked into the shop last night and had water all over the floor. The copper housing around the hot water outlet had cracked and water was going everywhere. After I got the water cleaned up, I looked up the warranty and it said 1 year parts, 10 year heat exchanger. So I am thinking that I am covered as the part that cracked is brazed directly to the heat exchanger. When I called Rheem, they told me that was considered a "part", even though it was directly attached and not replaceable without replacing the heat exchanger. There really aren't any parts outside of the heat exchanger.

I guess my only course of action now is the throw the whole thing away and buy another one. I feel like I've gotten "Rheemed" on this deal. Thanks, Rheem.

This is an excellent unit
Well, looks like my prior review on 4/22 has been deleted. I highly suspect that the complainers here, or one of them, "reported" me because I referred to their reviews and that probably violated policy, yada yada yada.

Ain't it the way of the world? Wonder how long this one will last.

In any event, if you are at all interested in the AquaStar, just listen to the positive reviewers, hook it up properly, and you'll be very happy with it I'm sure.

I suspect that the most common problems folks have are twofold:

1) They probably don't use the required 3/4" gas supply pipe and try to get by with the old 1/2" pipe that supplied their old tank-type hot water heater. Most 30-40 gallon tank types have a BTU input specification of 40,000 BTU's. The 1/2" supply line is adequate for that number of BTU's, but the AquaStar requires 117,000 BTU's and that's three (3) times as much. Thus you DO need to use the 3/4" supply line or you're just not...

big wood construction
After reading several reviews on the Aquastar, I was coinvinced to write a review after reading W. Youngs' review. From personal use of the water heater in my own home and installing seveal higher priced competitors models in customers homes, I am happy that I installed the Aquastar for myself. First of all, the Aquastar cost at least half of most other models. Second, it does not require any electrical supply saving one less thing to do during installation. Third, Mr. or Mrs. Young must not have done a correct installation because these water heaters definitly work. They may have accidently crossed a cold water line with the hot line allowing cold water to enter through the hot water side of the faucet. Or, maybe they didnt have the right size gas supply to the unit. Overall, this unit performes with the best. I recently moved and already have installed one in my guest house and plan to install one in the main house during upcoming construction. There's nothing like a hot shower...

Finicky
Our Aquastar 125B NG is older, manufactured prior to the Bosch purchase of the name, and though everything looks the same I do not know what design changes Bosch has made. It was already installed in our house when we bought it, so I have no information about the savings relative to a traditional tank water heater. However, I can offer some information about general use of this unit.

It is true that you can only fill demand for one hot water activity at a time. If the dishwasher kicks on while you are in the shower, both of them go cold. Your dishes will have spots and you will be shivering in the shower. Another reviewer suggested buying the unit with larger capacity (greater GPM) than what is recommended for your square footage, and perhaps this is a good idea.

I've found that in the winter time my Aquastar is extremely sensitive to variations in water flow unless I crank the gas knob all the way to the right on the front of the unit. This means it's basically...

Works great as long as it's working
I have this installed as an in-line point of use heater for the kitchen sink. The main water heater is far away, so this allows instant hot water at the faucet. It works very well and mine is not expensive to run. However, be warned, it WILL leak sooner or later (probably sooner - few years). If installed under the sink cabinet, when it starts leaking you will have water everywhere. So rig up a catch basin to protect your cabinets. A cut-up plastic storage box works. Also don't neglect to change the anode rod, even though it's inconvenient to work on this thing under the sink. And you may want to change the heating element gasket while you're at it (common leak source). Other than the leaks, the other problem is that thermostat adjustments are difficult because the adjustment is behind the a cover plate, which makes isn't always easy to remove when working under the sink. Bosch has released a new model which is no longer called "Ariston", but it's too new to know if they...

Effective water heater
Due to the unusual design of our house, this is the only source of hot water in our kitchen. The GL 4Ti Artisan Pro does the job well, but has a short lifespan - this is our 3rd in six years.

Great Product at the best price around!
This is my second one. I have four baths, so I needed two. Waited to buy this one until I was certain I was happy with the first purchase. I loved the first one and this one is perfect as well. Easy for the licensed CA contractor to install since the gas lines were already in place and electricity was right near by for the plug-in ignition start. Only draw back is that it requires electric ignition. When there's a power outage I'm out of luck for hot water. In my area it's a major drawback...but couldn't find anything else out there for the quality and the price...that equals value! This is a great value: price + performance.

Making improvements to product... Good customer service.
We originally had a Bosch 250SX LP water heater which was complete junk. We built our house new and had it built into it. It was awful. Never ending problems, the water temperature would fluctuate all the time, and thats when it was working. When it wasn't working we would have to go to the basement constantly to reset it's error code. We had bosch technicians out several times to try to readjust it for the altitude, and the amount of money we paid them to do this we should've just bought a new water heater.
Eventually, somehow, that water heater developed a leak, which leaked water through the entire machine ruining everything.

Upon calling bosch, they UPSed us a new one, this model, which is their current model. It is much, much, much better. Once it was installed and properly adjusted, we have had it for about 3 years without any problems and the water is always constant and hot, and we have never had a error code.

Then we changed propane companies. And...

A great hot water source if you follow the engineered specs
This is my second unit so I knew what I was getting into. Bosch builds great products but they are German designed liked BMW, Mercedes, etc. and aren't known for their reliability, but more for their highest end design, bells & whistles. I installed an independant 1" gas line from my meter. I installed the correct stainless vertical, not horizontal sealed exhaust flue 10' to the roof, as recommended. I installed a dedicated circuit outlet. I then had a Bosch factory tech. out @ $150 per hr. to sign-off the install so the 1/5/15 yr. warr. w/20 yr. life expectancy, would be honored. I don't live in any of the new "US Vortex Ice Age" states either, but in the expensive mild weather CA. Bosch is also known for their incredibly quiet dishwashers and this tankless unit is quitter than the horizontal clothes washer next to it. I build labs at Stanford and know how important it is to follow factory engineering specs. so that is what I did and this unit is fabulous..

Compact, efficient, effective
Note: The product image is not quite right as it shows another model than the 36.

I installed a Tempra 36 in a new application (not a replacement). It does everything it says it does and without taking up a huge space. It was easy to install and easy to use. The best part of this product is the endless hot water at a preset temperature.

You MUST review the flow rates and temperature rise charts to be sure it is adequate for your application. If you have colder water or want more water for your shower, the unit may only be able to keep up with one, not two or more people taking a shower at the same time. There are no electric units on the market that are as powerful as the propane ones, so make sure you've done your homework before installing.

The unit WILL draw its rated power (36kw) if you ask it to, so make sure you have enough power. It takes THREE 60 amp breaker PAIRS, which is a LOT of panel space. Check this also before installing.

great product..but not for those who don't want to upgrade electric supply
Our old hot water heater corroded and sprung a leak, so we had to buy something to replace it. The Tempra 36 we bought is working wonderfully. It took some time (electric company was slow) to upgrade the electrical panel to support the Tempra 36, but we are adding on to our home in the next couple of years anyway. We were going to have to upgrade the electrical panel to add on to our home. We can run both of our showers at the same time along with a sink and still get hot water as hot as we can stand it. We love the dial on the front of the unit that allows us to adjust the temperature in seconds. It takes up NO SPACE to speak of, and we were able to mount it to the wall and hook the plumbing up easily ourselves. We let the electrician hook up the power to the unit. We now store tools in the space where the hot water heater was.

We expect to save about $25 a month over the old 50 gal tank we had...we shall see!!

A SIMPLE, GREEN WAY TO HEAT WATER FOR MY ENTIRE HOME!
In remodeling my kitchen I found I needed to move my refrigerator to where my 50 gallon water heater sat, so I decided to go tankless.

I bought the Stiebel Eltron Tempra 36 from AMAZON (Compact Appliance) for a little over $700.00 (Great Price!), upgraded my home to 400 AMP service, mounted the Tempra 36 to a wall in my washroom, removed my existing water heater, plumbed all hot & cold water lines to/from the Tempra 36, ran three 35 foot lengths of 6 gauge wire (X2 hot + ground) from the Tempra 36 to my new breaker panel and connected with three 60 AMP two pole breakers.

I fired the beast up after ensuring I had no leaks and lo and behold, NEARLY SCALDING HOT WATER!! ONLY WHEN I WANT IT!!

I am a 100% do-it-your-selfer and believe me, this tankless water heater was simple to install and connect.

IT SHOULD PAY FOR ITSELF WITHIN ONE YEAR'S TIME!! I HIGHLY RECCOMEND IT!!

Excellent Product
I could not be happier with this purchase. The heater is very compact, makes virtually no noise, and is extremely efficient. I have had this unit in operation for 3 months and have never had an issue with this heater meeting my hot water demand. There is no noticeable increase in the amount of time it takes for hot water get to fixtures.

This is the most efficient model made by Rinnai, check with your gas company for rebates as I was able to recoup the entire cost of the heater. I switched over from a 80 gallon electric tanked heater. My electric bill dropped dramatically (30%+) and I didn't even notice an increase in my gas bill (less than 5$/month).

Tank less water heater
I love this unit. The 8 gallon per minute of hot water is plenty for both of my bathrooms, and kitchen. The only challenge installing was the condensing drain. Every time I hooked up the drain, the unit stopped working in the middle of my showers. If I let the unit drip in a bucket it worked fine. We figured out that a breather hose had to be put on the drain, and then it worked great. Also, the delay of hot water is a bit slower. With my old unit, it took 20 seconds for the water to be hot in the faucet, now it take 40 seconds, but once it comes through, it stays hot continuous. The cost of this unit is about $15 per month to run compared to $60 per month with the old tank unit. I would highly recommend this item to any one looking for a good tank less water heater. Once the bugs were worked out, it works great.

Very happy with my purchase
I picked the Rinnai brand after reading and hearing good things about this brand. I found this particular unit at a significant savings because it is the prior model. As a result I picked this up for less than the less efficient lower capacity model. I installed this myself. It wasn't hard but did take a long time as I had to re-route all the piping - both gas and water so lots of new connections needed to be made. The job took me about 12 hours from start to finish.

The unit works great and the water supply is more than sufficient for our family of four. I've not tried it yet with more than 2 concurrent users but it fully satisfies two showers or a shower and the dishwasher running at the same time.

As an extra bonus, my water is now softer than it was before without my hot water tank.

Just a great product
This is just a great product. I bought one locally and then bought another thru Amazon. The same product, thru amazon, was $300 cheaper. Always check out amazon before you buy. I use one to feed half the house and another for the other half. We have three bathrooms and can take three showers, wash clothes and was dishes at the same time. Try to do this with a conventional water heater.

Best water heater ever!
I installed this water heater in my San Francisco house two weeks ago.The unit was delivered promptly and properly packaged. I decided to go with an exterior installation because a: the venting system required for the interior-mounted heater would have cost me more than the water heater itself, and b: the noises coming from the heater could have been too annoying to me.

I would like to say that this installation was not easy and I would not recommend it for somebody who doesn't have previous experience with water and gas piping work.( I myself had problems finding a place to custom cut and tread some gas pipes I needed.) The electrical portion of the work was easy in my case because I already had a junction box with extra circuits near the installation.
After a couple of days of dealing with purchasing and installing the piping to make my system work (about another $300 +), I finally had everything connected and tested for leaks etc. I set my W.H. to 120 F and decided...

Hot Water FOREVER!
I recently had a new home built & the contractor put the unit in so I can't comment on ease of installation (others have already done so anyway...)

What I can comment on is how I can linger in the shower for an hour if I want.

I can have both bathroom showers in use at the same time while running the dishwasher & doing a load of clothes & everyone gets a generous supply of hot water!

The system comes with a default temperature limit of 120 degrees fahrenheit which you can change to 140 degrees by flipping a dip switch in the outside unit.

1. Go to the outside temperature controller unit & remove the cover.
2. Look on the lower right side & you'll see a series of 8 dip switches.
3. Flip switch #6 to the right (on position) to raise the limit to 140 degrees.
4. Now you can set the thermostat in your house as high as 140 degrees fahrenheit.

Chronomite was the first to patent a microprocessor technology which allows for a pre-set or controlled output temperature that delivers unlimited hot water without risk of scalding-in two seconds as opposed to the six seconds offered by other tankless water heaters. Chronomite is installed at point of use and is only operational when hot water is requested, thus dramatically reducing hot water delivery time and inefficient use of electricity.

Not a very good fit for a kitchen sink
It works and was handy to install since it is only 110 volt. But the half-gallon per minute water flow didn't make the rest of the family happy at all. In retrospect, I should have gone with a 220 volt higher flow model. It probably would do better in a bathroom sink, instead of the kitchen sink.

Perfect fit as the size was exactly the same as the old one so installation was really simple and it is working great

works
works good but out put is lower then hoped as is depends on pressure and speed of water to control temp.

Element burned out twice
Installation was easy. The element burned out twice after only a few minutes use. New elements cost to much to keep using it.

Very good product from a reliable vendor
This new unit is replacing the almost same model from Rheem that lasted 18 years without any maintenance so I expect the same durability from this water heater.

Buy Plumbing shipped the product very quickly and got home well packed and in perfect conditions. The installation was easy (you have to have some tools and basic knowledge of what you are doing),just check (and follow!) the installation instructions and your local regulations.

Want A Dented Water Heater??? Buy a Rheem at Amazon
Apparently all AMAZON has is dented Rheem water heaters. Over a 2 week period I have ordered and returned 3, that is THREE Rheem water heaters all which arrived DENTED, and damaged in other ways. On at least one the pressure release valve was bent in the mounting hole, and the special pressure tab was all wrinkled and the edges were rolled over. Amazon's response was fantastic, fast and professional. They even compensated me for the hassle. I will definitely order from Amazon again, but CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED on the water heaters. Since the first box was obviously damaged, and the second two were damaged very little, it made me wonder if the other damaged water heaters were being repackaged and reshipped hoping that people in a jam would accept them. My water heater is only leaking slowly and I have a dam around it in case it breaks. I can wait to get a good one. But with 3 strikes, Amazon is not the place to by a Rheem water heater. They have shipped me a tread mill in...

Can't go wrong.
Researched hot water heaters for days before pulling the trigger on this one. Was considering tankless, solar, and energy star models. In the end, I just wanted a good, reliable supply of hot water and this heater does the job for a very low cost. Simple installation. Simple operation. Massive quantities of hot water and a very fast recharge. It would have been easy to spend 3X the money for another model, but this one satisfied every need I had.

Just be sure to order the correct unit for your needs,,,,, natural gas and propane units are quite different and also there are inside and outside units. I was shipped a missmarked unit , ordered propane and had to return a natural gas unit, and pay return shipping from Hawaii. Mike

Good heated water
Bought this unit for my cabin. It really works good. It takes about a minute for it to heat the water. It did freeze during the cold weather this year but that was might fault. It burst a copper line inside the unit but the rupture was where I could solder it. So far it has held. My unit is outside. This would not have happened if I had read the directions better. I shut the cabin down during Christmas and pulled power on everything. I am off-grid and I was wanting to save battery power. When I did that I shut the auto-freeze control inside this unit off. I believe it says that a inside heater comes on automatically to prevent freeze when the weather is below 36 degrees. If I had not cut the power I would not have had a rupture.

The part if I had not been able to fix was about $300. I was lucky. The unit is a good one and easy to install.

Great Product and Great Price
Purchased this for our Park Model trailer, I figured the 6gpm would be more than necessary but the price was to good to pass up. Be prepared to spend an extra 150-200 dollars for the required hardware for installation. We are very pleased with this unit, it takes about 20 seconds for the hot water to reach our shower but after that we never run out. I even ran the dish washer at the same time with no problems. So overall for the price and GPM we are very pleased.
