Great device, weak instructions, needs some modifications..
I love the idea of this water heater!
Installation should be easy..
Uses standard 3/4 inch threaded lines for in, out, and overflow.

However.. the GL8Ti has 2 overflow ports..
You plug one (depending on top or side mounting) and use the other one for overflow..
This is a very nice feature, and makes mounting quite flexible.

The fittings going into the heater are brass and should seal OK..
However they are NOT tapered (as I think they should be).

Both of these ports leaked with what I would consider good/normal installation (teflon tape).
Both of these ports leaked with "upgraded" installation (teflon tape, plus joint compound).
Both of these ports held with a "super upgraded installation" (Teflon tape, plus joint compound, plus a thick seal gasket). (Gaskets are not a good idea in a water heating device.. They tend to rot out)

Took me a day and a half to diagnose and "address" the leaks..
I hope the...

Totally meets expectations...
I have used an earlier model of this product. The new one is even better..."new and improved". It holds/makes enough hot water for 5th wheel. We can shower without running out as well as use the two sinks...just not too long or all at once for very long. Takes only a small space and uses very little electricity.

Ok for a sink but for a shower not so much
Well I installed this product under my shower 12 inches from my tub spout. If you like a camping shower your in good stead but if your looking to luxuriate and enjoy consistent warmth and comfort better to go to the gym. Shower without any cold water mix and with the thermostat turned to max will give you 3 to 4 minutes of comfortable showering before the temp starts to drop. My guess is you may do better with a low flow shower head or a different wife. Put me in the one sad category and look for it soon to be available on some selling site. We tried and we say Nancy Reagan was right just say NO!

Considering
Considering some of the horror stories about houses nearly burning down by other brands I'd say my complaints are minuscule with this one. I was going to give it a 1 star but then I read the other reviews of other brands. Anyway, I had mine installed 2 years ago. Besides my one main complaint (I'm getting to that soon) it's one of the best purchases I've ever made for my home. I save a ton of money by not having a gas water heater (with a tank) and it's very efficient with electricity also (though I can't compare it to an electric water heater with a tank because I've never owned one).
When everything works it's perfect. You turn on the hot water and within seconds you have hot water. You can adjust the maximum temperature too so it's child safe (in case a kid decides to turn the hot water on full and gets scolded by it you can set the max to a very hot, but not burning, temp). I live in Northern Ohio so I've used it in both hot and cold (frigid) weather with absolutely no...

Dangerous -- No warranty service
Less than 2 months after installation, this unit will not turn off. It has burst PEX tubing three times due to the overheat condition, and started to smoke and sizzle multiple times.

It will *not* turn off even with both in and out water valves closed, and we have to flip the breakers to render it safe.

That of course means no hot water -- kind of why we bought the unit to start with.

The company is using every excuse in the book to not honor the warranty. They want me to a) hire a technician (at my expense) to troubleshoot the item on site, b) install copper tubing (also at my expense - despite being reminded water hot enough to melt PEX is too hot for skin), c) move the setting to low (meaning lukewarm water), and send them a $100 deposit which upon return of the defective unit, at their discretion, they might refund "if the unit does in fact requires warranty service".

An honorable company would send a new unit and an RMA for the...

14 Degrees Short
I tested the AE-9.5. If it worked as advertised, it would be a great little piece of equipment - but it doesn't. It is advertised to achieve an 84 degree rise at .75 gallons per minute. The best that I could do after ten tests was a 70 degree rise. Here are my test results.

Incoming water - 48 degrees
Gallons per minute - .75 GPM
Heated Water Temp - 118 degrees

I did hit 125 degrees or 77 degrees once but not for .75 gallons per minute.

For my test, I set the AE-9.5 on a table about 30 inches off the floor. I wired the unit to 240 volts. Actual voltage, 242. The heated water was directed into a two gallon pail using a two foot section of hose. The distance from the unit to the pail was minimized so as not to affect the results. I used a sealed thermometer to measure the water temp. Each test ran for two minutes.

I called the Bosch support line for help but it was after hours and they weren't able to answer my questions.

15 Minutes to success
My wife reminded me that our children and grandchildren were due to visit our cottage in one week, but not hot water. I placed my order on line and it was delivered in 3 days. Hot water at the cottage in 4 days. Wow it only took me 15 minutes to install. Then hot showers for all on the weekend. Horrible horrible horrible, over 60% FAIL rate
I have used these units in several buildings. The biggest building being an 8 unit building all with 1 bedroom apartments. Each apartment has it own hot water heater.

We have OVER a 60% fail rate. First you do a LOT of electrical work to get to the point of being able to install it. Then you put it in and this what progresses:

- day one works great and you think "what a great idea I had"...
- few weeks or months later it is hot for a minute, then warm, then cold as it runs
- you reset the unit try and test everything, it works ok you think
- get a call a day later it is the same warm then cold then warm showers
- you take it out and return it to the store.

I have replaced 3 yes THREE in one single apartment alone. All in all I bought 8, for an 8 unit building, and have installed either new or replacements 18, in a eight unit building that only has 8 on any given day, at this time. I am a whiz at getting them in and out...

All Things Considered
I recently bought an AE115 to replace the aging oil burner we have. I actually ended up installing its cousin the AE125.The AE115 was found to be a little on the small side for my geographical area. I hadn't initially known this when I ordered it and I thought maybe I would save someone else a little grief by telling you this. A lot depends on your geographical area. I live in the north east US where my well water gets cold enough to need the larger unit.
You most likely will need to get a few 40 amp breakers if you already have a 200 amp service at your house. I needed to make a total electric upgrade to my house to 200 amps from 100 amps. The AE125 takes THREE 40 amp breakers. Actual amp readings prove to be much less than that and most circuits are protected to 20% over actual use so no need to get to nervous about this. Consider that this amperage is only on for the short time you take a shower .vs hot water heater that is always heating your water(unless you install a...

hmmmm
Works great most of the year. When it is 50 degrees or less, the water tempurature declines. Through the peak of the winter, it's pretty much a cold shower. Customer service is very pleasant and willing to help. They have sent us 2 replacements (the last one was a larger size)at no extra cost to us, but still having the same problem every winter. We are looking into a larger one again. Our house is 2 bath. I still won't ever go back to a tank.

Fast hot water, inexpensive to run
This mini-tank water heater works very well and we love not having to wait for hot water at the kitchen sink. The form-factor is also very convenient for mounting under the kitchen sink, unlike some other small point-of-use water heaters.

I have this hooked up inline with a gas tankless water heater and I wanted to know how much this new heater was costing me in electricity, so I hooked up a meter to check it out for a few weeks. It turns out that, with our normal usage, it uses just about 5 KWH/week - which works out to about $2/month in our area.

Before this heater, we had to run a full 2 gallons of water down the drain before getting hot water to the sink - which was both a big pain and somewhat wasteful. With this 4 gallon heater, we basically have an instant and endless supply of hot water at the sink since the hot water from the main tankless unit arrives before the water cools too noticeably. I've also noticed that it seems to heat water on it's own...

I got a Lemon and Ariston was of no help
I have 2 tankless water heaters in my house (one on each end of the house). I added a 6 gallon tank to one of them to see if it would allow me to get hot water faster while the tankless water heater starts to heat up. I purchased an A.O.Smith for this and it worked great. For 4 years it has plugged away and I've never thought about it for a second. I've never had to touch it even one time so it's covered in dust and spider webs. I love it.

Two years later, I asked the plumber to put the exact same water tank into my house on the other tankless water heater. Instead, he installed this one by Ariston (Bosch). After I saw what he did, I told him this wasn't the same brand, but he assured me that this was far better. It was *NOT* better.

From the very beginning, the thermostat circuit kept triggering and shutting off because it said the water was too hot. Even when I turned it down to a very low temperature, it kept triggering. I would have to run down the basement...

Wow! Instant hot water. What a concept!
If your living in a place like mine where your hot water heater is a long way from the kitchen sink, then you are probably going crazy like I was waiting and waiting for the hot water to finally get to the faucet. There are technical ways to remedy this, but they involve a lot of plumbing, auxiliary pumps, and ripping half your house apart. Since I rent, I was thinking that the landlord wouldn't take to kindly to this idea. So I started casting about for a better solution.

That's when I came up with the idea of putting a little water heater as close to the kitchen faucet as possible. With this, the hot water is right there where you need it. No waiting and wasting a lot of water while running the faucet so that a half mile of plumbing warms up.

'Only problem is a tiny tank has very limited capacity. If you're only washing a dish or two like me, then no problem. But if you wash a sink full of dishes, it will quickly run out.

But the trick is to...

Identical to Bosch Aquastar 125 on the inside
When my old Aquastar froze during a nasty cold spell I found out that most new models were going to require electricity and plumbing changes, expensive changes for expensive heaters. I called Bosch and they told me this unit would bolt in and perform just like my old one. When I got the new one I laid the two units side by side without the covers on. Except for the Controls they were identical. That's a good thing, all the Aquastar owners I've known are pleased with their product and I'm the first one to replace a Bosch water heater. Highly recommended for what it's designed for; a small house with one demand at a time.

Installing the Tankless water heater
Before I received the water heater from Home Perfect, I reviewed YouTube videos of the product. They were very helpful. Upon receipt of the unit, I inspected the box and found no damage. I installed the unit myself. I am a DIYer and prefer to do it myself so I can learn about the usage and care of the product. I read previous reviews on this product on other sites all of which were not so favorable on this model. I like the technology of the NO ELECTRICITY used as I am on Solar Panels, wind mill, and propane stand-by generator. The installer should pay special attention to the service size of the fuel line and be mindful of the amount of fuel other appliances use in the home i.e (range, clothes dryer, propane fireplace, and water heater) all must have a service regulator at the propane or natural gas entry point to accommodate all of the appliances at the same time. I found that other complaints were with the use of the Delta Cartriged Shower Faucets. I have no problem with this. The...

What a huge waste of water and energy, I'd give it negative stars if I could, it's that bad...
We initially purchased this to replace our standard 40 gallon tank water heater and to save on water and gas, big mistake!
1st, Extra expense, it requires larger diameter gas plumbing pipes, we had 1/2" running from our propane tank, but had to upgrade to 3/4", so there was that expense.
2nd, Settings, it is quite finicky as to the settings and how it gets configured. We had a professional adjust it 3 times and it is still not a great mix, but it way better than it was. Also, the knobs on the front and cheap and fall off, this is not well built.
3rd, Showers, with our old tank heater I could set the shower head to drip while I shaved my legs to conserve both water and propane, but with this tankless system, you CANNOT touch the dial at all, nor slow the flow of water, which causes the propane to kick off, which causes the well water to not be heated, and you end up getting a nice freezing gift from the bowels of the earth! You then need to stand off to the side while...

This is an excellent unit
Well, looks like my prior review on 4/22 has been deleted. I highly suspect that the complainers here, or one of them, "reported" me because I referred to their reviews and that probably violated policy, yada yada yada.

Ain't it the way of the world? Wonder how long this one will last.

In any event, if you are at all interested in the AquaStar, just listen to the positive reviewers, hook it up properly, and you'll be very happy with it I'm sure.

I suspect that the most common problems folks have are twofold:

1) They probably don't use the required 3/4" gas supply pipe and try to get by with the old 1/2" pipe that supplied their old tank-type hot water heater. Most 30-40 gallon tank types have a BTU input specification of 40,000 BTU's. The 1/2" supply line is adequate for that number of BTU's, but the AquaStar requires 117,000 BTU's and that's three (3) times as much. Thus you DO need to use the 3/4" supply line or you're just not...

big wood construction
After reading several reviews on the Aquastar, I was coinvinced to write a review after reading W. Youngs' review. From personal use of the water heater in my own home and installing seveal higher priced competitors models in customers homes, I am happy that I installed the Aquastar for myself. First of all, the Aquastar cost at least half of most other models. Second, it does not require any electrical supply saving one less thing to do during installation. Third, Mr. or Mrs. Young must not have done a correct installation because these water heaters definitly work. They may have accidently crossed a cold water line with the hot line allowing cold water to enter through the hot water side of the faucet. Or, maybe they didnt have the right size gas supply to the unit. Overall, this unit performes with the best. I recently moved and already have installed one in my guest house and plan to install one in the main house during upcoming construction. There's nothing like a hot shower...

Finicky
Our Aquastar 125B NG is older, manufactured prior to the Bosch purchase of the name, and though everything looks the same I do not know what design changes Bosch has made. It was already installed in our house when we bought it, so I have no information about the savings relative to a traditional tank water heater. However, I can offer some information about general use of this unit.

It is true that you can only fill demand for one hot water activity at a time. If the dishwasher kicks on while you are in the shower, both of them go cold. Your dishes will have spots and you will be shivering in the shower. Another reviewer suggested buying the unit with larger capacity (greater GPM) than what is recommended for your square footage, and perhaps this is a good idea.

I've found that in the winter time my Aquastar is extremely sensitive to variations in water flow unless I crank the gas knob all the way to the right on the front of the unit. This means it's basically...

Works great as long as it's working
I have this installed as an in-line point of use heater for the kitchen sink. The main water heater is far away, so this allows instant hot water at the faucet. It works very well and mine is not expensive to run. However, be warned, it WILL leak sooner or later (probably sooner - few years). If installed under the sink cabinet, when it starts leaking you will have water everywhere. So rig up a catch basin to protect your cabinets. A cut-up plastic storage box works. Also don't neglect to change the anode rod, even though it's inconvenient to work on this thing under the sink. And you may want to change the heating element gasket while you're at it (common leak source). Other than the leaks, the other problem is that thermostat adjustments are difficult because the adjustment is behind the a cover plate, which makes isn't always easy to remove when working under the sink. Bosch has released a new model which is no longer called "Ariston", but it's too new to know if they...

Due to the unusual design of our house, this is the only source of hot water in our kitchen. The GL 4Ti Artisan Pro does the job well, but has a short lifespan - this is our 3rd in six years.

Making improvements to product... Good customer service.
We originally had a Bosch 250SX LP water heater which was complete junk. We built our house new and had it built into it. It was awful. Never ending problems, the water temperature would fluctuate all the time, and thats when it was working. When it wasn't working we would have to go to the basement constantly to reset it's error code. We had bosch technicians out several times to try to readjust it for the altitude, and the amount of money we paid them to do this we should've just bought a new water heater.
Eventually, somehow, that water heater developed a leak, which leaked water through the entire machine ruining everything.

Upon calling bosch, they UPSed us a new one, this model, which is their current model. It is much, much, much better. Once it was installed and properly adjusted, we have had it for about 3 years without any problems and the water is always constant and hot, and we have never had a error code.

Then we changed propane companies. And...

A great hot water source if you follow the engineered specs
This is my second unit so I knew what I was getting into. Bosch builds great products but they are German designed liked BMW, Mercedes, etc. and aren't known for their reliability, but more for their highest end design, bells & whistles. I installed an independant 1" gas line from my meter. I installed the correct stainless vertical, not horizontal sealed exhaust flue 10' to the roof, as recommended. I installed a dedicated circuit outlet. I then had a Bosch factory tech. out @ $150 per hr. to sign-off the install so the 1/5/15 yr. warr. w/20 yr. life expectancy, would be honored. I don't live in any of the new "US Vortex Ice Age" states either, but in the expensive mild weather CA. Bosch is also known for their incredibly quiet dishwashers and this tankless unit is quitter than the horizontal clothes washer next to it. Tankless water heater
Excellent little tankless gas heater. Perfect for our home now that we are downsizing. Works if you only use water in the shower/bath at a single time. Empty nester home. So it fits our needs.

Just had the Bosch tankless water heater installed yesterday. So far, it seems great, and I'm trying to get the warranty paperwork completed. It is very light, and compact and performs just like a water heater should... but we will see how the 75 percent efficient is in the next few months. I hope it will pay for itself very soon. The lifetime warranty doesnt hurt it's value either.

We love it. Installed with no trouble (we did need to put in a new 4" vent). Since then we have had long blazing hot showers for a couple months. This size is recommended for smaller homes, and we haven't tried taking a shower and running the laundry at the same time. But for a small house this seems ideal.

Don't install yourself
The first page of the product manual states that this product should be installed by a professional and that the manual be given to the owner after installation. I am a long time do it yourself-er and former maintenance man; I knew I could do this... truthfully I could and did, but it stretched me. First I had to run a 220 line from my power box to the area of installation, next I had to mount the device and install the power line, finally I had to cut into my 3/4" water line, under my house and create a separate cold water line for the device. It is true I could have split my existing 1/2" cold water line with simple tubing, but that would have lowered the overall water pressure. After all was complete I hit the power switch on and let the water flow, instantly I had very hot water (Nice!)

Previous to this I had an on demand water heater for the whole house, it works well, but it takes to long to get to the kitchen sink. That is when I had the idea to get this device...

An idea whose time has come!
We purchased this water heater to feed a couple of sinks, and it works great! It is not a high-demand heater, so it gets water pretty hot if you don't have a high flow rate. Best of all, it only uses energy when it's on-the heater switches itself on with demand. This one requires 240 volts and 30 amps, although it will run with less power with less heat. Bosch units appear to be very dependable.

very effecent
Bought this for small 2 be rm lake house. Went from a 4 or 6 gal elec.that I had to shut off shower while soaping to have enough water to rinse off. Guests had to space time between their showers when coming in from swimming. With the new tankless unit I have hot water as long as I need. Also when kids or guests are there there will be no waiting for heater to reheat. Two very slight minuses, A very slight flow reduction and a very slight temp change when the well pump cycles on and off. I like it so well that I well be installing the same heater in my home plus a tankless gas for large volumes of water.

Great product
This is for Jack Stecker. maybe you shouldn't be crushing all those pills buddy, I think it's negatively impacting your brain. This water heater is not intended to replace a tank water heater, it is not for your whole house.
If it is tripping your breaker, it is because you did not wire it correctly, or are using the wrong size breaker. The wire sizes that Bosch says to use are NOT intended as a guideline, they are the size that the unit needs. You are probably very lucky you didn't burn down your house. Next time follow the instructions, ALL of the instructions, and take the pills AFTER you are done with the wiring. I have two Bosch tankless water heaters, and they are awesome, but they need to be installed correctly. And yes, they do draw more electricity when they are on than a conventional tank water heater, it's just that they are only on when you need hot water. that draw is why you need to follow the directives about wire size. If it says 8ga wire, you CANNOT use...

As Expected
Having the need for a vanity with hot water, this unit provided all the hot water that was needed throughout the multiple events we used it. I have actually purchased two of these to have two vanities in diferent areas.

satisfied with all products except headlights
The only item I'm unsatisfied with are the headlights. I'm still having problems getting them to stay adjusted. I need to pull out the right side again to re-fix the adjuster. Something has either slipped or broke because it is way out of adjustment again and won't adjust.

Love this hot water heater!!
Excellent hot water heater!! I was looking for a tankless hot water heater that didn't need any electricity to work and Bosch seems to be the only company that makes them. I had a Bosch tankless hot water heater a few years ago, but the instructions on how to adjust it were confusing. We never did figure out the correct configuration. We had to leave the water uncomfortably hot during our showers because if we turned the cold water on too far, the hot water tank shut off and the water went cold. We finally ended up buying a regular hot water heater with a tank and just using the Bosch as a backup when we didn't have electricity. This one had much better instructions, was easy to install, and works great!! I can take as long of a shower as I want and the water stays a comfortable temperature. I highly recommend this hot water heater if you live in an area like I do, where the power goes out a lot.

best on the market
excellent product no frills nothing fancy just a gas valve ,burner works great ,the only downside is that the gas valve is mostly made of plastic instead of metal like their older models.

I don't like it
The water will not get as hot as a traditional water heater, you can shower but it's not enough to enjoy as a bath

Two Fail in 2 & 3 years
I bought two GL2.5 water heaters in 3/2006 & installed one for a master bedroom and the other for the kitchen sink w/a T to dishwasher. Very nice to have hot water fast. Otherwise have to wait for it to come from attic quite some distance. BUT the directions suggest CLEANING it out every year. This pretty much means uninstall it if in a tight location! Turn upside down to drain, descale element and REPLACE ANODE! Every YEAR! Have you ever done that with a water heater... and they last 10 yrs. no problem! Well here, I did not do that & the first started to fail in late 2007. The thermostat breaker would kick off & I would reset it. Then that stopped working and I ordered a replacement thermostat in 4/2008 from Grainger. That worked & then we had our main circuit breaker kicking off easy. I think it was shorting through the mineral deposits! Unknown to me at the time... Then the tank fails mid-2009. Soon in Fall 2009 the 2nd unit had a tank failure (fyi, it never had the...

The solution for point-of-use warm water
I live in the northeast. It gets cold here. My basement is warmer than outdoors, but, despite copiously wrapping my pipes in insulation, I get cold water in my kitchen sink for something like 8-9 seconds (at full blast) before the water becomes passably warm. Working from home, having rambunctious teenagers and more than a few dogs, I do a lot of cleaning and hand-washing. I wasted a lot of water (water which was previously heated at some expense) trying just to get a little warm water. Worse, the dishwasher didn't change water fast enough to keep the water in the line warm, so the dishes would get rinsed in cold water every time, even if you use the water heat option for the wash. Certainly this is not a big problem, but I lived with it for five winters and decided this was the time to do something about it.

I purchased this point-of-use water heater (the smallest of three versions) so that it would fit underneath my kitchen cabinet. I've been using it for a few...

Bosch GL2.5 Ariston 2-1/2-Gallon - KEEP AN EYE ON IT!
I purchased a Bosch GL2.5 Ariston 2-1/2-Gallon water heater 3 years ago from Amazon for placement under my kitchen sink. Prior to installing this heater, it took a long time and a serious waste of water before the water became hot, which is unacceptable for kitchen sink use.

I installed the unit myself which is very easy if you have even the slightest knowledge of plumbing and a few typical tools.

The heater worked great for about a year. Then one morning, I got out of bed and went to the kitchen to make coffee. My kitchen floor was flooded. The relief valve on the top of the heater was leaking badly. Fortunately, I have tile floor in the kitchen and after several hours of clean-up and cussing, the kitchen was usable again. My kitchen cabinets were soaked, so I left the doors open and used a fan to circulate air for drying purposes.

Can you imagine what would have happened if we had been gone on vacation when this happened?

I called...

Great little heater
This is our 2nd Ariston heater - the first is a 4 gallon under the kitchen sink. We got this one to sit in our basement bathroom and feed it, the main floor bathroom sink and a future 1/2 bath on the 2nd floor. It just makes so much sense to keep a small amount of hot water ready to use right near the fixture. That way you don't have to waste a bunch of water if you need hot water. These seem very well insulated, so I think that the standby losses are negligible. Our main heater is a gas tankless, and these really help improve the performance for intermittent uses such as washing hands or dishes. I just put this inline with the tankless, so that it can "smooth" out our hot water. The tankless works best for steady uses, such as showers and filling a dishwasher. Adding one of these Aristons gives you the best of all worlds.

RV Replacement
I used this for a replacement water heater in my travel trailer. It did not fit in the original space, so I installed it in the closet space and connected it with the original plumbing with plastic hose. You have to be plugged in to use it, but other than that it works great and at a cost of about 2/5th of what an RV water heater would cost.
********
UPDATE: 4 years and still going strong with the unit I installed in my travel trailer. I've spent about 2 of the last 4 years living in the trailer on job sites, so it has had a reasonable workout.

About a year later I purchased a second one of these. I used it to feed a temporary shower in my basement while I was doing a bathroom remodel. Worked well for that use, too. That unit is now installed under the kitchen sink. It saved a long run from the house water heater to the kitchen, which saves quite a bit in this cold climate, and I don't have to wait for the hot water to reach the kitchen. In addition, the...

AWESOME!

UPDATE JUNE 17, 2010 - BOTH CONTINUE TO WORK GREAT. EXCEEDED MY OWN EXPECTATION.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've purchased 2 of these for two different purposes. Both are GREAT! Easy to install (I am boarder-line incompetent when it comes to plumbing and even I was able to do this with only a couple trips to the local hardware store).

The quality does not seem all the great ... but for the price and so far (one I've had and used for almost 2 months, the other almost a month) they work fine and there are no problems.

FACTUALLY: It does seem to take a good half hour or more to heat up and re-heat once the hot water is used. It would not in any way be useful as a tank-less water heater since only lukewarm water at best comes out as the tank reheats. Also, I live in Southern California and it...

This replaced another tankless, this is much nicer.
This replaced another tankless, this is much nicer. Excellent heat. I am so happy that I discovered tankless a few years back. I own my own propane tank, and it lasts much longer.

Requires Adjustment to Living Habits
The temperature and low flow switch setting on the tankless water heater will require one to adjust hot/cold water mixing habits to keep a higher flow of hot water and very little mixing with cold water to keep the hot water flowing. What this requires is the maximum temperature of the hot water is low enough that very little mixing of cold water is required. I did the installation myself and all the changes in the gas lines, vent piping, and water piping was more than I expected. If I had just replaced the existing water heater it would have been much simpler.

So Far So Good
Hopefully this Bosch tankless water heater will do better than the previous two that were a different model with internal water wheel that created the ignition spark. Unfortunately, Bosch did not stand behind the warranty on those so the retailer and I were both out a lot of money. The only reason I elected to try Bosch again was because (1) we had been without hot water for over a year at my cabin while fighting with Bosch to get it replaced and we did not want to go through another winter without hot water, (2) everything was already in place with the proper hook-ups for LP and water that for use with this one, (3) I already had the proper venting pipe in place to accomodate the system, and (4) equally as important, this unit had good ratings by other Amazon users -- you will note several of the others have a poor or bad rating.
