Customers say's :
Bought this product
I bought and installed this unit. It works great and has all the items needed to hook up, minus the wire for 120 volt and the controller wire (bell wire or speaker wire).
The cons is the packaging as described in other review. The box looked like it had been through a war zone. The unit cabinet was dented a little but I decided it was not worth the effort to reject it from Fed EX If you buy one make sure you are home when it is delivered and open the box, request for signature upon delivery as I requested.
The controller and the service valves and the relief valve comes with the unit. It does not say this in the description.
Fast delivery even at Christmas rush. I gave it a four because of the handling of the supplier for packaging a heavy unit with only the display box.

Terrible packaging, and much slower initial response than old gas 40 gallon water heater
The unit came from Amazon almost completely out of the box, plastic parts broken, box was half open. Almost sent it back right then, but I had the installer lined up for the next day, permits pulled, inspections pre-scheduled, gas company etc. etc.

The unit is initially very slow to respond and provides adequate hot water after 5 minutes or so.

Shipping problem was very bad.

Unit is adequate, not as good as I expected.

we will see how much money it saves on gas versus wasted water?

Rinnai water heat is excellent
Very pleased with this purchase. It has been running for about a week now and replaced an old, rusted out 50 gallon standard water heater that had failed on me at the worst of times.

First, however, I have to say that the Rinnai packaging was terrible. This is the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars. The box was shredded and the styrofoam inside was broken into little pieces. Miraculously the heater was in great shape except for a few tiny dents on the case. Since my old water heater was already dead I decided to just go ahead and keep it as-is.

Installation was a snap, and only required routing the utility lines outside for hot and cold water and electricity.

Getting up and running took no configuration adjustments to the water heater at all. It fires the moment water begins to run and stops as soon as water is turned off. There is maybe a one second delay as the burner heats the water up, and this is completely unnoticeable if you're used to...
