Check your vent pipe before ordering
This hot water tank heater was bought in order to replace an 11 year old tankless hot water heater. It seemed like it would not be a big deal to take a wall mounted tankless heater out and replace it with another. Wrong! This Rinnai product requires Rinnai venting. The old HWH was taken out and the new one installed, but we continued to get error codes. We called our local gas company and had them come out to help figure out the problem and they told us our venting would not work. Turns out they sell Rinnai products and this HWH is an older model, they did not have the correct vent pipes.The vent pipes had to be ordered. We had to take the new HWH out and re-install the old one that was only giving us lukewarm water. One week later and almost an additional $700, we finally have the new HWH installed.Yes, I have great hot water now and I am hoping that the high efficiency unit will earn back the additional cost for the heater and the install over a period of time.
