TITAN SCR3 N160 Electric Tankless Water Heater
Customers say's :Pretty Good Little Heater
The TITAN SCR3 N160 Electric Tankless Water Heater was easy to install. I bought a unit and my dad and I installed it in just a few hours. We are in Florida, so I figured this unit would more than handle our hot water needs.
Unfortunately, the unit stopped working after about a week. I called Titan and they explained to me how to reset the unit. I just had to turn off the breaker to the unit, then push a very small screw driver into a reset hole in the front of the unit until it clicked. The reset hole is not really noticeable unless you are looking for it.
I had to reset the unit several times during the course of getting the problem fixed.
After going back and forth between the seller, who stopped carrying the 160s, and the manufacturer, who said they would fix it if I shipped it to them, leaving me without hot water for several days, I finally got the seller to buy one for me...
Broke down in less than 14 months
If you want to see reviews for this company, just check out the reviews for the Titan SCR2. Works ok in a fairly low-usage apartment application in temperate climates. Stopped working at the 14 month mark. Will not activate to heat water.
Warranty is 1 year on anything that heats the water, but I would expect much more life out of a product than 1 year. Customer service is horrible. They will not answer emails, and generally do not answer the phone. I think this is a very small company highly unprepared to deal with customers.
I am trying to buy a spare part, but I doubt anyone with less than high electronics capability can (or should) even try. If you buy this product, you are basically gambling.

Went out in less than 8 months
I purchased one of the Titan N160 water heater to put in a small 2 bedroom 1 bath house. I had it installed by a contractor and an electrician took care of the wiring. First I had to turn the water down coming into the house because it wouldn't run a warm bath. Then 8 months later the thermostat fried. We found the burnt part when we had to take the cover off to try and reset it. I am very surprised that it didn't cause a fire. I wouldn't buy one of these again and not only because I have gone without hot water for 2 months but because it could have very well caused a fire.
