Customers say's :If I could give negative stars, I would
I bought this product exactly a year ago and had it installed probably 360 days ago. It stopped working about a month ago. It only worked for 11 months.
I figured it was under warranty and looked for the manual. The manual said it had a 2 year warranty for electrical and 5 years for leaking. But the manual is worded misleadingly.
They will not replace the unit. What they want the customer to do is to pay someone to diagnose the problem. If it's electrical, the manufacturer will only send us the part that went bad. Then we would have to pay for someone to make the repairs. To me, this is not a warranty at all. For a unit that cost $150 or so, that would mean $150 in repairs, which means basically it's no warranty as you're spending just as much to repair a crappy unit, as you would to replace it. And for it to be faulty in 11 months is unacceptable.
They didn't even feel remorseful that the unit didn't even work properly for 11 months! That means they...
why did I wait 20 years?
As with the first reviewer, our hot water heater is at the opposite end of the house as our kitchen, and it took more than a minute to get hot water. We had a recirculating pump on the hot water system in our previous house, but that turned out to be problematic and expensive as a retrofit for a multilevel house. And I wanted no part of a gadget that bleeds hot water into the cold water line - it throws away hot water and the cold water is hot when first turned on. This water heater was an ideal solution. It is fed by the hot water line and the hot water supply is essentially instantaneous and continuous, that is, the hot water from the main water heater arrives before the small tank is emptied. Because the main heater is set at a slightly higher temperature, the small electric heater does not even turn on.
The unit appears to be very well constructed and comes with detailed and clear instructions. Almost too detailed - I hope I don't need to replace the heater, thermostat, or...
No More Cold Water Hand Washes
My wife has complained for ages about the length of time necessary to get hot water at our kitchen sink. I determined that it took 2 gallons of flow to get warm water, so this little 2.5 gallon heater was just the ticket, and small enough to fit under the sink along with the reverse osmosis filters and accumulator, disposer and all that. The heater itself works great and uses a standard 110V circuit so no special wiring is required. And for me, and this is a big AND, it is made in the USA!
