Customers say's :Endless hot water bliss
So, obviously the big question is whether this water heater is better than a traditional storage tank. The short answer is, "Definitely."
The biggest benefit to a tankless water heater is the endless supply of hot water, and this unit really delivers. For about the same price
as an efficient tank heater, you can have this unit which heats water on-demand. We have it supplying two bathrooms, and really
appreciate having all the heated water we need for our family of four.
The other great feature about this model is that it is simpler to install than an indoor tankless, as no additional venting is necessary.
This reduces the cost and complexity of installation, as well as minimizing the space needed to install it.
Keep in mind that, although the dimensions of this heater are fairly compact, it will require several connections for water, gas and electrical supply.
These pipes extend below the unit for an additional 18 to 24", depending on...
So Far So Good
This rating on 7 Jan 2014 is based on the machine’s performance during 3 winter weeks in the southeast U.S. I love it, but have yet to push its potential. Due to the age and build of our house, we ran into several snags during the installation—consider a few things before purchasing a tankless water heater:
1) “On demand” does not mean instantly available from the tap. Rather, the machine heats water as needed—“on demand.” The heated water still has to travel through your cold pipes to the faucet.
2) Confirm with a plumber that your water lines meet the unit’s requirements.
3) Confirm your gas lines and meter. The tankless units I considered all require 3/4" lines (not just fittings). Talk with a plumber to make sure your meter and regulator can handle the requirements of all your gas appliances.
4) Consider the maintenance—annual treatment to reduce mineral/scale build-up.
5) The warranty...
Happy w the Space, Costs, and we're on Gas!
We wanted to switch from electric to a natural gas tankless hot water heater and the same dealio with the stove. As for the installation, this past May, my guy did not have any issues installing the unit on the back of our house. We ended up with additional coveted pantry space and the heater has worked great up to this point. Our gas bill is about $20 a month for the two appliances AND our local gas company gave us a $650 rebate for switching from electric to gas hot water heater and another $250 for the stove.
The hot water heater ended up costing us $100 plus installation .... :) We are very happy ....
